Burlington, ON May 30, 2023 / – Newlook Capital Dental Services Trust (the “Dental Fund”) is pleased to announce the addition of Kathy Conway, an accomplished financial leader, as an Independent Review Committee Member. With a remarkable career spanning over four decades, Ms. Conway brings a wealth of experience and expertise to further enhance the Independent Review Committee.
Ms. Conway’s journey in the financial sector began with her graduation from Simon Fraser University, where she majored in Business Administration in 1981. She subsequently articled with Thorne Riddell in Kamloops, earning a CA designation in 1984. Ms. Conway’s international experience includes two years with chartered accountant firm Arthur Young in New Zealand from 1986 to 1988.
Returning to Canada, Ms. Conway joined VanCity in 1990, starting as Manager Accounting and later progressing to the positions of Controller in 1994 and VP Finance from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, she assumed the role of Senior VP and CFO at Interior Savings Credit Union in the Okanagan, where she played a pivotal role in the successful merger integration with Thompson Valley Savings, a like-sized credit union. Her exceptional leadership led to her appointment as President and CEO of Interior Savings in March 2012. Under her guidance, the organization flourished, growing into a $3 billion full-service credit union before her retirement in 2022.
Ms. Conway’s professional achievements extend beyond her executive roles. She has served as Director and Audit Committee Chair of Credential Financial Inc. (now Aviso Financial) from 2014 to 2018 and BC Lottery Corporation from 2002 to 2008. Her commitment to community engagement is evident through her involvement with the United Way of the Central and South Okanagan, where she served as Campaign Chair from 2011 to 2013 and Board Chair from 2016 to 2018. Ms. Conway continues to contribute her expertise as a member of the Southern Interior Regional Council of United Way British Columbia.
Recognized for her outstanding contributions, Ms. Conway has received numerous accolades throughout her career. She held leadership roles within Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), including Vancouver Chapter president from 2001 to 2002 and National Chairperson from 2006 to 2007. In 2004, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC awarded her the Fellowship designation (FCPA, FCA). BC Business Magazine also honoured Ms. Conway as one of BC’s Most Influential Women in Finance in 2019.
